Hello,

I'm interested on Jevents component, but I need please to clarify some points.

I want to display a calendar for events, this is ok.
But in addition, I need to purpose to my customers, rooms rental.

I have 3 rooms, for weddings, party, etc.... and I need to add on my calendar, a form with custom fields (room name, reservation start date and hour, reservation end date and hour), to allow users to request a room reservation.

Then, after sending the form, an email is sent to website admin.
Then, website admin accept or refuse the reservation and a confirmation is sent to the user.

Is it possible to do that with Jevents component ?
Or something similar ?

Thanks
Laurent

Yes it is possible with the managed locations addon (available to silver members).

You would setup JEvents to block specific overlapping events (to avoid double bookings in each room) and your event creators could fill out a form and select the date/time/room they want and then request a booking, The event admin user would then be notified of the event creation request and approve the event as required. when approved the 'creator' would be notified. There is however no automatic mechanism to notify the creator that their request has been turned down but that could be handled via a normal email.

You would need to customise language strings (easy) and probably create a custom event editing form (with some help from us in the club member forum).

Hello Geraint,

This exactly what I need to do ;)

Just some precisions below :

your event creators could fill out a form and select the date/time/room they want and then request a booking

Creators will be visitors (no authentification required on the website).
Correct/possible ?

The event admin user would then be notified of the event creation request and approve the event as required.

This means my customer (website admin) will receive and email for each event creation submitted by a visitor?
Correct ?

when approved the 'creator' would be notified

When you say creator, you mean the visitor?
Correct ?

There is however no automatic mechanism to notify the creator that their request has been turned down but that could be handled via a normal email.

So that means the visitor will never receive an automatic email if his request is refused?
Correct ?

Automatic email is sent to visitor only when request is approved?
Correct ?

You would need to customise language strings (easy)

Ok no problem.

probably create a custom event editing form (with some help from us in the club member forum).

This kind of customization id possible by default with JEvents (ex: with a form editor tool) ?
Or do I need to modify php core files ?

Thanks for your help

Yes but you would need the anonymous user event creation plugin (which supports recaptcha) to do this.

The event admin user would then be notified of the event creation request and approve the event as required.

Correct ?
Yes - as long as you don't allow your visitors to publish their own events

when approved the 'creator' would be notified

When you say creator, you mean the visitor?
Correct ?
yes

There is however no automatic mechanism to notify the creator that their request has been turned down but that could be handled via a normal email.

Correct ?
yes - but the admin user will have the email address of the visitor and can send a message explaining why they were turned down

Automatic email is sent to visitor only when request is approved?
Correct ?
yes

You would need to customise language strings (easy)

Almost all would use the built in layout editor but if you may want to hide some fields using CSS etc. which we can help you with.

Hello,

That's perfect, many thanks for your answers.
Last question.

I suppose, when the room reservation request has been approved by website admin, then event is displayed and visible on a calendar by all the visitors (example: from monday 8h AM to tuesday 8h PM),?

The aim is to display a calendar to show all the events reserved for all the 3 rooms.
So like this, visitors can check free rooms before doing a request a reservation.

Thanks
Laurent

You have 2 options - If you use the hidden event detail plugin you can hide all the details of who has booked, the title of the event/booking etc but it would appear as busy in the calendar, or you could use the layout editor to show the event but not show the 'personal' details.

Yes that's what I need.
Juste display the event as busy, but hide persnal details (event name and who has booked).

Ok so all the visitor request, approved, could be visible on a public calendar?

Yes and you can configure the calendar to NOT show the details - you could also have a separate menu item for each room if you want

Ok that's perfect.

I will buy the silver or gold package I think.

I have to check some details with my customer, but the component seems to be perfect for the need.

Thanks again for your help and have a nice week-end
