Hi, I am here searching for a callendar which reminds me and my friends what to do. We need a system that can remind us by mail (or sms) the same day or the day before an event. This will be our electronic diary in which will fill our jobs for not forgetting them.
Is Jevents that kind of callendar?
Is there an addon which I can use for this? I have been looking at the RSVP Pro.
Best regards

RSV Pro in conjunction with JEvents will do this. It can be configured to auto remind the event creator and other users can subscribe to reminders for specific events or events from a set list of categories.

It would be by email - we have experimented with SMS reminders but there are thousands of SMS gateways so it makes it impossible to support these.

Thank you. I have installed RSV Pro and begins to understand how it works with JEvents.
Is it possible to create an event in the callendar and then let the machine wait until the day of the event to send an email to the invites? Or is it only possible to send email at the same time you create the event?
I have searched for this solution, but haven't found anything.
Best regards

Hello Dalberts,

At present I'm afraid it's only possible at the time of creating the event. But an interesting Idea.

Although not a great solution, you could look if there is a mail queuing component for Joomla! we use the Joomla! mailing system.

Thanks
Tony

Actually you can send the invitations at a later date. When you create the event and view is you manually add the list of invitees to the event and then need to click a button to send the invitations - you can do this at a date closer to the event if you want - BUT it does require manual intervention.

Thank you for your answers, but I'm sorry to say this solution isn't good enaugh for me at the moment. We are a group of people working together loooking for something that can help us remember things during the year. I thought your callender was the great thing.
I am new at Joomla. Do I understand Tonyp right that it's possible to find a mail queuing component for Joomla and make it work with JEvent? Or do I install it and make it work besidens JEvent?
Best regards

For you exellent programmers: Isn't it possible to create a little window saying "date of sending" in this email-system? That would have helped me.
Once again;

I think what you want are reminders as opposed to invitations.

A reminder can be configured to be sent 'x' hours or days before an event. An invitation is different - it is to tell people of a new event and invite them to attend.

That should do what you want - you can also set a list of users to get auto-reminders without the need to sign up for a specific reminder message.

Hi, now. I think I have ungerstood this and solved my problem. My next problem is that the icon for editing the event in the front end is gone. I have read all about it in another strind in this forum, but I don't understand what to do. I have not done anything in the CSS-files. Is it possible that it can be a problem with the RSV Pro-files?

No - its either
1. you don't have permission to edit this event in the frontend
2. you have custoised your event detail layout and not inluded the event edit button/dialog
3. your template css is hiding it for some reason

If you send me login details via PM I can check or you can use Firebug or the Chrome/Safari inspector to investigate if its missing completely or just hidden due to CSS issues

Hi, do I understand you right when you say it's possible to send a reminder to other people without inviting them? For example at the day of the event? That is what I need. I have tried the whole week-end without success.
If this is possible; please tell me how I configure the system to make this.
Best regards

Hello,

Only users can select who want to be reminded for the event. But I think what you want is to add users to the reminders is that correct?

Thanks
Tony

You can configure RSVP Pro to send reminders automatically to one of the following settings:
1. event creator
2. event attendees
3. event invitees
4. all registered users on your site
