Hello, i need to offer my visitors the option to subscribe to one ore more calendars.
i have a menu item created for that so visitors can create a ical export to subscribe.

everything on my website is SEO frendly including jevents but not the export.
webcal://mydomain.com/index.php?option=com_jevents&task=icals.export&format=ical&catids=0&years=0&Itemid=1050&k=38f31bbc7bff3bce9137ac0e5a56adc2

what i would like to see is
webcal://http://mydomain.com/abonnement/events

is this possible and if so, how can i do that..

Hello,

The url isn't SEF Friendly as it's an export url it's not designed for Google.

All the query strings are 100% needed as they are the constraints and unique key.

Many thanks
Tony

Okay that's clear.. but..
i want to make it as easy and userfriendly as possible..
what i am looking for is that the visitor can subscribe to our calender at ease..
can i skip the export step and just over a user friendly url to subscribe..
say.. webcal://mydomain/subcribe/calendar
that somewhere else is configurered what the jevents url schould be..
there is no need for us that the visitor can make any selections (calendars, years)..
because (i assume) is a subcribtion to the calender.. so al future added or changed events in that calender is synced to the user (also over the years etc..)..

so for a user it would be nice.. just to click on a subscribe button and the webcal url is presented.. thats it..

Would it be a option that i create a hidden menu item with the jevents url..
so that the user only has to click on the user friendly menu item?..
or is the genereated jevents webcal url user specific

Hello,

You could do it I think as a 404 redirect?

So make up a fake link access it then redirect to the correct link?

Many thanks
Tony

Hi Peter,

The problem is for us to offer that we would need to start maniplating URLs not Just JEvents give that URL contains a secret token for the person exporting the calendar. I.E. if you wanted private events by iCal when you generate the link you are offered a public and private hence why we need it.

But given how it works, the SEF is never ever seen. People go to the Export page which is SEF ready, then they click the links they desire and it adds it to their calendar.

Many thanks
Tony
