Thanks for your reply. After I'd signed off I was thinking that my question might have been a bit vague!
What I'm doing is to enter Jevents from the back end Control Panel. I then select 'Manage Events' and select 'new'. It's from that editor screen that the ability to 'insert', 'image' has vanished.
I'll attach an image showing the current insert drop down menu and I'll paste the 'support info' below.
