I would like to modify JEvents and am very interested in the in depth documentation available to club members.

Is there a way I can see a sample of this documentation to get a feel for it before I decide to join the club.

Many thanks.

There is some layout and styling. Also like to consolidate event detail of a day into a number and display the number only within calendar cells. When the user clicks a cell, the list of events shows that day's.

Having trouble with JEvents install so haven't looked at the code. But as a beginner, I think docs might come in handy.

Want to evaluate this before I commit my boss's cash.

Thanks.

what you are looking to do it quite advanced - there is a docs that explains how to add tooltips to the mini-calendar which would show a list of events, this includes the code required to do this. We'd be able to give you some pointers for how to do something similar in the main calendar.

The custom fields addon allows you to add flags like outdoor/indoor to your event without the need for any coding - you can also add a filter to a module to allow your visitors to make the choice.

What problem are you having with the install??

ok thanks for the info.

is the custom fields addon part of the core or a club feature?

the install is now fine ! am attempting to upgrade 1.5.4 to 2.2.9 so sp upgrade can convert up to 3.1.7 so a few xampps in the mix and was all confused.

thanks again. one other question - when the club membership expires, do the plugins continue to function please.

i know i'd be jumping in the deep end. generally speaking though, should i be able to follow the general approach i've read about for over-riding components and modules to make these modifications ? eg within mytemplate/html/mod_mymodule ? (From everything I see these are for layout overrides. I'm not sure if I can override non-layout logic or indeed if I can do what I am hoping to do using layout overrides ?)

Thanks again !

Hello,

You can carry on using but will not receive further updates.

You can override helpers and all in the tmpl folder within views.

Thanks
Tony

Thanks.

Do you mean override a helper within templates/html etc, or within the component itself?

Cool. That must be new(ish?).

I know I am probably over extending my presales welcome. Part of why I'd join the club would be getting help with concepts and hard to find info. eg I haven't seen helper over-rides within templates/html anywhere except maybe a git hub project I could not understand. Do you cater for this or more very specific info relating to the product?

Thanks.

In Joomla most components that use the Joomla MVC (a way of splitting the functionality of display from the computation) allow you to override the presentation using template override. JEvents supports this - see http://www.jevents.net/jevents-15-topme ... jevents-15

Though in JEvents we also offer a way to customise many view without doing any coding - see http://www.jevents.net/jevents-15-topme ... ut-editing
