Our events, after being created, at some pointed are being copied by the system. This has been a continuous process. When you go to CiviCRM-Events manage is where the copies are occurring under "Show Current and Upcoming Events. We have past events occurring ONLY because no end date was ever inputted when the event was created. So the event copies go back quite a few years.

We have a total of 11 "actual" events, yet CivCRM now shows 3,460 events. When this first was happening we have 200 events that appeared.

We have been manually trying to delete but the copies reoccur again. I had the events total down to 900 only a month ago! I could not keep up with deletions. The deletion itself of an event is a long process; it is not like you can click a check box and delete selected. I have requested support from joomla, CivCRM, Civi Stack Exchange. The last response I received from a tech was that it was possibly due to Jevents.

I just happened to search through CivCRM issues and found someone having the exact same problem - FINALLY: https://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-10763.

This issue needs to be resolved it is out of control! I have sent a sample of the CivCRM event page.

We use CiviCrm 4.6.15, Joomla 3.6.3, Jevents 3.4.23.

PLEASE HELP US!

Are these events imported into CiviCRM from JEvents? Can you give us the URL of the iCal export from JEvents that you are using?

Is it possible that CiviCRM is not matching up the imported events with the existing ones as replacements and creating duplicates?

I went to Jevents Config. I clicked on Ical Import/Export and under private key for Ical Export it shows: SECRET_PHRASE. I am not a tech pro but do manage the joomla site. I do not know how it would not match up from events to calendar. The copies do not appear right after creation. They pop up sporatically. It will copy all the events under manage events. So the 3465 will probably be like 7000 the next time it does this. The copies do not post to the calendar, they reoccur in Civi. People book their classes on line through jevents so how could it not match? I disabled repeat events as well.

We log into Joomla. We go under components: CiviCRM, we go to Events, NEW EVENT. We enter the event information. We then go to JEVENTS, create the calendar for the event and link to the CIVICRM event by clicking and inserting from Event Links.

So you create the event separately in JEvents and in CiviCRM. I don't see how JEvents could be affecting CiviCRM in any way.
