Hello,

We are looking into JEvents as a possible solution for selling short trips and tours online. If we subscribe to the Gold version, what do we need to facilitate online sales? Do we need to have our own PayPal account? For payment by credit card, do we need to set this up with our credit card merchant provider?
Any information to help us understand the requirements will be appreciated.

Hello Lomaver,

Welcome to JEvents! :-).

You would need to setup a PayPal account in addition to obviously installing and setting up RSVP Pro. I say a PayPal account because it is by far the easiest way to start selling online as they accept paypal accounts and also card details for non paypal account holders.

Many thanks
Tony

Hello Tony,

Thanks for the quick response! OK, so we arrange for the setup with PayPal. This means that we would subscribe to the Gold version, to get RSVP PRO, correct? Can I ask you a couple more questions to help us make the decision in the next few days?
Would it be possible to facilitate also direct payments, such as Interac E-transfers or whatever different banking systems may call it?
And finally, can we customize headings in JEvents and for example rename "Events" to "Tours"?

Regards,
Herbert

Hello Herbert,

Exactly.

1. We also support Authorize.net. But this is the offsite version so it will take you to Authorize.net to enter card details and then return to your site. However, we do integrate with Virtuemart and Hikashop which have a massive array of payment plugins.

2. You sure can, JEvents is massively customisable.

Many thanks
Tony

Hello Tony,

Thank you for the clarification. We would probably just go with PayPal for starters.
Looks like we will go ahead in the next day or two.

Hello Tony,

I am back with a couple more question, to ensure that JEvents meets all our requirements:

We notice from this demo below that when you click on a specific event, you don't get just that one event on your screen. Instead, the event is on the right panel, while the left panel shows other events. This is not what we want, because it looks confusing. Can this feature be modified to display only the event of choice?

We also need to know if it is required to log in to JEvents to view or purchase an event? Hopefully not, as this would not work for us.

Regards,
Herbert

Hello Herbert,

Which demo?

JEvents is Fully customisable and from what you are describing is the RSVP Pro Demo site. This has a module which can be disabled of course.

And no, you can set it to allow email based registrations. We also just added in a new feature to register none-registered user on event registrations if you wanted that feature.

Many thanks
Tony

Hello Tony,

Sorry, I had as usual missed including the link to the demo page:

http://activities.jeventsdemo.net/today ... roke-cycle

That was not what we had in mind. As mentioned, just the event itself should pop up. However, you already mentioned that this is just an optional way of displaying the information, so we should be ok.

Email-based registration should work for us, but it is good to know that even a non-registered process will be possible.

Thank you again for your quick replies,
Herbert

Hello Herbert,

You can have the event details popup plugin. So all event details popup if that's what you have in mind.

Many thanks
Tony

Hello Tony,

I am not sure if the plug-in is necessary. All we require is the ability to select one event from the list of events offered and then only this event should be on the screen. The user should not be distracted by still seeing other events on the screen.

It seems the only payment system not available to us would be the Canadian Interac system, which lets you make a payment directly from your bank account. So we would just have to offer PayPal.

This is what you get when you click on the link to the event detail page - or did we misunderstand your requirement?

OK, that is what we wanted to clarify. Somehow, in the demo we were not able to get to the event detail page.

It sounds as though we may need to review how we have set up the demo - can you explain in a little more detail where you were trying to click and what wasn't working so that we can fix the problem.

Many thanks

Hi Geraint,

Thank you for your further reply. To illustrate what I saw in the demo and which prompted my inquiry, let me try to replicate my 'experience' in the demo by giving you the specific steps I followed.

This next link shows the list of events/tours I am choosing from:
http://activities.jeventsdemo.net/

From the list I picked the FEB 07 CAMBRIDGESHIRE WALK and arrive at this screen:
http://activities.jeventsdemo.net/day-l ... er_reset=1

As you can see, the screen is crowded with other walks on other dates on 2 columns. Why is this necessary, when I had already chosen a particular walk on the previous screen?

Anyway, when I then try to click again on the walk I am interested in, keep getting the same screen and never get to the detailed page for just this one walk. I like to believe it is a glitch in the demo.

Herbert

Hello Herbert,

You are looking to far into JEvents thinking it is too Static.

It is shown to show what is possible. You can remove everything on that page and only include a little bit.

If you actually scroll down the page the event you are interested in is there. We should probably put other dates section below the event.

Thanks
Tony
