Hi there,

I'm thinking about using JEvents for the event booking on a site I'm currently building. I was wondering if you could answer the following questions about JEvents & JEvents RSVP Pro:

1. Can we set up a single event, with multiple sessions at different prices?
2. Can these multiple sessions be locked until the main event is booked? i.e you cannot book one of these sessions until the main event is booked.
3. Can we charge different prices for each of these sessions within the main event?
4. I know you have a CCK integration for K2. Would we be able to do the above within k2?

I'm sure you've had similar cases/questions before - so if you know any simple way to achieve the above, that'd be great.

Many Thanks,

Miles

You can't create sessions that are dependent on each other but you can get people to select different options (conference streams or meals etc.) and add a fee for each of these (and set attendance limits on them if you want)

did you look ay the Joomla conference demo site http://beach.jeventsdemo.net/

Hi Geriant..
I refer to your response on this thread.

I have a Conference coming up, which runs over 2 days.
Over these 2 days, there are concurrent sessions running which the participant has to choose when signing up for it.

As each concurrent session has different capacity, the need to track the seats taken are crucial. Can an extension of JEvents set different capacity to the sessions, and track its responses??

Also, the system should be able to manage/track registrations and manage payments (ie, allow online payment thru PayPal, update manual payments received) and also to export the full event registration to excel.

Please advise which extensions JEvents would be able to manage this.

NOTE: the fee payable would just be one figure, regardless of which sessions they chose to attend.

Hello Cherylru85,

This would be possible by creating two events and two registration sessions.

Thanks
Tony

Hi Tonyp,
Appreciate your response but I am not sure if I fully understand.

Here is the real scenario -

There will be a 2-day (fixed dates) Conference/Symposium(event).
On each day of the event, there is a main plenary session and 2 timeslots where at least 6 concurrent/parallel workshops will be held[/color:1nfa0eij].

Participants who register for the event, should be able to also select the preferred workshops they wish to attend. The concurrent workshops are of different seating capacity[/color:1nfa0eij] and upon the participants' registration, the system should be able to track the number of seats left based on the maximum capacity set for each workshop.[/color:1nfa0eij]

For the registration fees, it should be charged per the whole event, and NOT per the workshops chosen. [/color:1nfa0eij]

How would JEvents (and what other extensions are needed to) enable these type of programme?

It must have the ability to track registrations, accept online payments via PayPal, export to CSV or Excel, update attendance[/color:1nfa0eij], etc....

To date, I have not found a satisfactory Joomla extension that could do what I require.

I hope those who have had managed before complex events would be able to share how JEvents' extension has helped them.

Thank you.

Hello,

JEvents RSVP Pro should do exactly as you require. We do offer a 30day month back guarantee.

You can create a Registration Template and limit the options to a capacity value of x and it cannot surpass that.

But you cannot have the registration blocked until x is booked. This is not a feature we have implemented yet.

Many thanks
Tony

Tonyp,

I was wondering whether or not this functionality had made it onto the RSVP Pro roadmap yet, and if so, when it might be available? If not, do you have any alternative suggestions? I have an almost identical requirement. Thanks.

See "[i:3iu0rwkn]cherylru85 ยป Thu Dec 04, 2014 7:16 am[/i:3iu0rwkn]" description, I have pretty much the same scenario.

I have a multi-day conference, with different registration tiers (member, non-member, 1-day, 2-day, vendor, etc). Once they've completed and paid for the 'conference' registration, they are then entitled/need to register for one or more sessions offered in various tracks across each of the days of the conference. This year we had 21 sessions from 7 different tracks offered over the course of 3 days. The various sessions had different class size constraints.

Does that help? Thanks.

Hello,

I see... That's not currently possible and can't see it being a feature anytime soon as it would be very complex to handle.

I'll speak with Geraint and see if he has another spin on it though.

Many thanks
Tony

Ok, thanks, appreciate the followup.

Something to consider, I've seen a LOT of requests for a similar functionality, seems to be one of the few things missing in the Joomla space.

Thanks again.

You have 3 approaches -
1. Use a membership addon tool such as AkeebaSubs to purchase the overall conference ticket and then use RSVP Pro to select the specific events with access granted ONLY to users who have the appropriate membership (controlled by AkeebaSubs).
2. Use RSVP Pro with a single, more complex form, to allow attendees to select which streams/lectures they will attend
3. Use the Custom Fields addon with the 'add to planner' tool to allow attendees to select which streams/lectures they will attend

Did you see our conference demo - http://beach.jeventsdemo.net/ ?

Hi Geraint,

Thank you very much for the followup and the suggestions, I'll have to investigate them further.

I did see your demo, that's what gave me hope that I might actually have found a solution to what I needed. I've been looking for 5 months without much success.

I had also come up with a workaround similar to your suggestions. I'd found a university course registration system that I thought I might be able to front end with something like RSVP Pro, assuming the university solution works, the key then was having something like RSVP Pro do a redirect to a specific URL at the end of the registration process. I haven't looked to see if RSVP Pro can do that portion of the solution yet. I was realllly kind of hoping your Beach demo could be made to do what I needed.

Lastly, fyi only, I had looked at AkeebaSubs early on, but support for AkeebaSubs was discontinued in June 2014.

Thank you very much for the followup and suggestions!

One possible feature we could incorporate into RSVP Pro is to make access to one event registration conditional on having booked and paid for another already - I think if we implemented that it would meet your needs. Its something I could look into

Sorry, not ignoring you, just examining the example a bit closer. I'll be back in touch after I've examined it closer.

The one thing I caught, that I'd missed earlier, is that you're using Authorize.Net SIM, we don't use SIM, we're using AIM... The other thing I think I found, but I'm still researching - it doesn't look like you support integration to ACYMailing. For example when a user registers, they'd be added to the 'Student' mailing list.

As to your suggestion about making "one event registration conditional on having booked and paid for another already" -- actually it would have to be a one-to-many relationship. One paid ticket covers access to the other 27 non-fee classes.

Anyway, thank you for trying to work with me, give me a bit more time to research and understand the Beach demo and I'll be back in touch.

We do have an AcyMailing plugin for RSVP Pro so that when an attendee registers they are added to a specified mailing list.

The conditionality would support be one to many conditions

We don't support Authorize.net AIM - we do, however, support Virtuemart and HikaShop enterprise as payment mechanisms and these support Authorize.net AIM as far as I know.

Sorry for the delay in responding - first your system didn't like me, it thought I was a 'bad guy' and then once I was able to get in, I realized that my browser was blocking some of your site's functionality....

Anyway, I took a deeper look at your demo, I 'think' with the enhancement that you're talking about, it would actually do what I need. I'm not sure how the Hikashop integration would work since that portion of the demo was disabled. I do have a very small Hikashop setup and it is using Authorize.Net AIM, I'm just not sure how to maintain the segregation between the few products they have and the conferences.

As I was typing this, something dawned on me... are you considering this a custom enhancement or would it be integrated into the core RSVP Pro product. The reason I ask is that I'm working with a very small non-profit and have a limited budget and don't want to waste anymore of your time if this is going to be some major expense.

Thanks again for your time and patience.

This is a feature that has been asked for a few times and will help for several conference sites so it will be incorporated into the core of RSVP Pro.

The HikaShop products are kept separate by category. Note that you will need HikaShop business for it to work and not the free basic version.

Oh thank you, thank you!

Might I ask when you think this feature might become available?

Understand about Hikashop Business - thanks for that clarification.

Thanks again for all your help!
