Hi guys,

I would like to import data from a CSV file, generated by gigpress, module in wordpress.

Now I am trying to export some examples from JEvents in Joomla, to see the differences between the CSV files. I am using JEvents, Manage Locations and Manage People/Resources.

Who can help me to export the JEvents examples to CSV, clean up the gigpress CSV file based on the JEvents export, and show me how to import the gigpress CSV file to JEvents?

Kind regards,
Edze de Boer

Hello,

For importing in CSV see:
https://www.jevents.net/frequently-asked-questions/importing-events-in-csv-format

For generating a CSV Export Create a JEvents List of Events Menu item, select all the fields needed and set CSV Export to YES. and visit it in the frontend :-).

Many thanks
Tony

Hi Tony,

Thank you for your answer. It doesn't seem to be so difficult after all.
Next point to study is how to prepare the export from WordPress GigPress so that it can be imported in JEvents. I will let you know in a few days!

Hi Tony,

Suppose I have created the CSV file for import into JEvents, following https://www.jevents.net/frequently-asked-questions/importing-events-in-csv-format

Where and how in the JEvents Component do I indicate the location of the created CSV file on my computer and how do I start the import of that file?

Hello,

You can go to JEvents -> Calendars -> New -> Import from file

Or

JEvents Configuration -> Ical Import/Export -> enable frontend importing -> visit your site logged in, at the bottom of the events pages you should see an import link.

Many thanks
Tony

Hi Tony,

It seems very difficult to transfer the CSV file from the WordPress calendar to a CSV file that can be imported by JEvents.
Of the 950 lines in the CSV there are about 80 lines that give problems. The point is that the action Text to Columns in Excel creates the right columns, except the fields that contain the description of the events and specially where there are several commas in the text of the descriptions.

So, I will have to add 950 events to the JEvents Calendar manually :)

Anyway, thank you for your kind help so far!

Kind regards, Edze de Boer

Hello Edze,

That's a shame. Could you provide a copy of the CSV so I could take a look at the problems?

Many thanks
Tony

Hi Tony,

I read that I can't attach a CSV file to this message(Supports gif,jpg,png,zip,rar,pdf,xml).
How can I send you a private message with the CSV included?

Kind regards,

Ok so the CSV is very different, but if your follow:
https://www.jevents.net/frequently-asked-questions/importing-events-in-csv-format

And merge the address columns (also set managed locations to match on imports / create).
Then some data will need deleting, and renaming columns to match the order in the above url it should be possible.

Many thanks
Tony
