Hello,

I have my site set to import events created inn Jomsocial to the JEvent calendar. I have created the same event first directly in the JEvent calendar and then, in Jomsocial. The event displays differently both ways. I'd like to have the events display the same way no matter which entry point is used. My concern is that members will be confused when view the different layouts.

I ave the latest version of JEvent, so, that's not the issue.

I have attached both calendar entries as example.

Thanks for your help.

Can I clarify what you are doing?

You are using the silver member jomsocial addon to import your events FROM JomSocial into JEvents?

Geraint,

Yes, I'm using the plugin, JEvents - JomSocial Integration. The first image is of the event created in JomSocial and imported into the JEvent calendar.

We don't strip the HTML from the event details added in JomSocial. Can you give me both URLs - I suspect it could be CSS that is different between the 2 pages?

Hello Geraint,

The first event link was created in JEvent:
http://www.womenabout.org/cms/wab2.5/in ... 01dde592e0

This one, in Jomsocial and imported:
http://www.womenabout.org/cms/wab2.5/in ... CIAL62xx43

You will need a login to see these which I will send via PM.
Thank you again,
D. Ashley

See the event in JomSocial (http://www.womenabout.org/cms/wab2.5/in ... temid=1101) - this has no formatting in it so there was nothing for JEvents to pick up.

p.s. Interesting you should choose an event near Garnet Hill - I've spent many a happy weekend there cross country skiing.

Hi Geraint,

Yes, Garnet Hill really is a lovely area to spend time in during the winter, (well anytime actually).

Regarding the import of events from Jomsocial, I guess I'm not as concerned with formatting as how the information is imported, editable, and/or laid out. For example: when I edit the imported event the information is presented as shown below. The main body of text is in the email/phone section and the text sent via notification is contained in the main body. In addition the contact is not contained in the post anywhere. This just makes the listing feels and look disjointed.

I usually go in after an event is added from JS and make manual corrections, however, that could be daunting if lots of members begin to add events, as they should be able to.

What, if anything, can be done?

We map the JS description to the JEvents description and JS summary to extra info (your email/phone number). In JomSocial the summary field is their 'Short Description' and description is the 'Full Description' - do you have these switched on your site??

See plugins/jomsocial/jevents/jevents.php at line 570/571
			$array["jevcontent"] = $event->description;
$array["extra_info"] = $event->summary;

Hello Geraint,

Well that was weird. The script change made a big difference... but why was it like that in the first place?
So, now the layout is better, makes more sense. I have one other issue which may or may not be a JS issue,
but I'll ask anyway.
1) After the event created in JS is imported into JEvent the time-stamp altered, set back about 6 hours.
2) The short description from JS start in a weird place and there's a colon at the start of the line.

Thank you for all the help thus far,
D. Ashley

ps: really like the new forum look.

I don't know about the colon - does it happen on all your events that you migrate.

What timezone did you select when creating the event in JomSocial? I suspect JEvents is setup for EST and JomSocial is
using GMT/UTC

Howdy,

Yes, the colon happens on all of the transferred JS events.

The time stamp is still a mystery. JS forum states that their time defaults to the Joomla system default.
My site default is New York, EST, so, it should be reflected as such in the event.

There is an offset value you can set when creating events in JomSocial - do you use this?

Hi Geraint,

I did try the offset for Daylight Saving adjustments. Didn't seem to help.
No worries, I'll contact JS Forum again to see if they have any answers.

Thanks for all your help.
