Greetings,

I am installing JEvents 3.1.30 on Joomla 3.3.6, which went fine. However, when clicking on one of the calendar dates, the user receives a 404 error. The error provides the following:
--------------------------------
An error has occurred while processing your request.

You may not be able to visit this page because of:

an out-of-date bookmark/favourite
a mistyped address
a search engine that has an out-of-date listing for this site
you have no access to this page
------------------------------
I do have the stock .htaccess file enabled, and the SEF module is enabled. You can see the attached screenshot for more information.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hello,

Have you enabled Joomla! SEF? Can you make sure your htaccess.txt in the root of your Joomla! Install is renamed to .htaccess

Thanks
Tony

Hope this is the correct thread to add on.

I'm seeing the same issue on a newly migrated site as well. The site was migrated to J3.3.6 with a fresh install of Joomla and migrating content and settings, then reinstalling components, etc.

I've also tried upgrading to Joomla 3.4, but no change in problem.

Database Version 5.1.56-log
Database Collation utf8_general_ci
PHP Version 5.4.37
Web Server Apache
WebServer to PHP Interface cgi-fcgi
Joomla! Version Joomla! 3.4.0 Stable
JEvents 3.1.42

Some of the other things I've tried (cleaning tmp folder between attempts)

[list:qgc8nt55]Manually uploading it - same error
Database Fix : no errors
Repair/Optimize tables (via Admin Tools) - no change
Discover: nothing found
Search Engine Friendly URLs Yes/No - no difference
Turned off .htaccess - no change
Used Joomla default .htaccess - no change
Use Admin Tools .htaccess - no change
Disabled JCE - no change (was suggested for a similar problem on another forum a while back)
Switch to PHP 5.5 - no change[/list:u:qgc8nt55]

The 3.1.42 to 3.1.43 upgrade also fails on the old site running Joomla 2.5.28, which has been migrated to a different URL, but otherwise unchanged. All updates used to work.

I do not have a support or other membership plan, but I thought I'd mention this in case it's specific to 3.1.43 somehow.

Hello,

1. How was the site migrated? What should happen is the 2.5 site should be updated and not migrated. With the Joomla! Updater.

2. What fails? What does it say?

If you save the configuration of JEvents 3.1.43 it will do a search for orphaned events and should create a new category for you which is unpublished by default and places these events in it.

Thanks
Tony

The error is "404 Category not found". Sorry, I thought that was obvious.

Joomla updater did not work, and I tried it many times over the course of 3 days and a lot of hours. I'm not sure what additional information you're asking for regarding the migration. The site was migrated to J3.3.6 with a fresh install of Joomla and migrating content and settings, then reinstalling components, etc. Later, to eliminate the possibility, I did the J3.4 upgrade, which went without a problem. Same "404 Category not found" error on both J3.3.6 and J3.4, so that didn't affect it. I read through the upgrade log file "joomla_update.php" to determine that the J3.4 update had no issues.

JEvents 3.1.42 is installed and working without any issues. It's the upgrade (in place) that's failing. I'm not sure what your suggesting about saving the configuration, as I am still running 3.1.42.

Thanks for the quick reply and your time.

Rereading the original post, perhaps I was wrong to add to it. My issue is with Joomla Updater, not missing categories within JEvents. Should I repost?

I would suggest you install JEvents 3.1.44 from a manual download - there are bugs in the Joomla updater in version 3.4.0 which will be fixed in 3.4.1

I've already tried manually installing from a download, but for JEvents 3.1.43, which is the one currently available. However, I'll try and keep watch for a newer version. In the meantime, I think the 3.1.42 version currently running should be fine. We' re only using it to display recurring class information (show the next 2 days of events) on the front page.

Thanks for the heads up on Joomla updater. Hope 3.4.1 will be out soon.
