Hi There, I have been evaluating your product for a few weeks now and have what I suspect are "newbie" questions so I apologise for that but your input would be appreciated...

I have a property management site which I would like to use your component and modules to support.
The requirement is to publish a Date available on the page of the property in question along with a method of publishing all property availability dates in say, a footer module position.

I have set up a test site and employed the following in an attempt to deliver this requirement:
1) I have set up individual categories for each property so that I can use the lasted event module to only display the renewal for that particular property.
2) I have created a Renewal date event for each property within the appropriate category.
3) I have put the filter module into a footer module position and enabled the "by category" option.

All this seems to work well but I have the following questions:
a) I originally set up categories for 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom etc but found I could not show only one property as in 1) above so ended up setting up sub categories under these headings for each property - is there a better way to do this?
b) I need to get my head around the date "custom format string" options as ideally I would only have the day (not to include the time or duration) of the renewal displayed - can you point me in the correct direction?
c) I do not seem to be able to modify the display format (using "choose layout View";) for the latest event module it always looks the same - what have I missed?

I look forward to your response...

Hello Nick,

Glad to hear your evaluating JEvents!

a) You would probably find the JEvents CustomFields plugin (available to Silver Members) a better option as you can can configure this as an option of the event when editing and then filter based on this.

b) Sure see: http://www.jevents.net/docs/jevents/ite ... at-strings

c) Have you set this in the Module parameters and set it to use settings below? Do you have caching on your site?

Many thanks
Tony

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the response... It is highly likely that I will go for a gold membership as I need the RSVP module for another client so I will bear your comments in mind...

w.r.t the date formatting - have had a look at this but don't actually see a way of removing the time element - what am I missing here as all I really want displayed is the Date = Day Month and Year

Also w.r.t the layout display yes I am attempting to set this up using the module parameters (module tab 1st option) and I have set to option to "use the settings below" for the custom format string.

I do not have cache enabled for the module and I have cleared both the Joomla cache and the browser cache but no change...

Hi Nick,

b) Try something like this: ${endDate(%b %d)}

c) Which layout are you tryting to use and which was the previous one? If you have caching enable please disable it for this testing phase as it might confuse you or remember clearing your joomla cache before checking changes ;)

HI Carcam,

Thanks for that with that suggestion I have gone with: ${endDate(%B %d %Y)} which gives me what I wanted...

And the formatting issue must have been cache (Joomla) as now when I change the setting and clear that cache I get a change in the presentation...

Thank you for you support... we can now consider this ticket closed.
