I have tried a forum search for these answers with no luck, so forgive me if this is a repeat question or two.

On the site I am developing I have three levels of regular users. I need the "Registered" users to only see their own events on a calendar display; and only add their own events.

I need "Administrators" and "Managers" to create events that are then assigned to any given "Registered" user, and have those events also be visible in the "Registered" user's calendar as if they had created it their self.

Can JEvents do this, or will it need customization? If this can already be done then please tell me how.

Also, I need to add a custom field to the events that will allow allow tagging/creating an attendee based upon entries in an external data table. This is along the order of creating a coaching event, assigning a coach (registered user) the event and then specifying attendee(s) based upon an exterior client list from a custom component. Is this possible?

Thanks,
Dan Davis

Hello Dan,

You will need the JEvents Silver Membership to achieve this.

Basically use the User Specific Events to allow filtering a menu item to see their own events.

All Registered users to create events within the JEvents Configuration -> Permissions

They will then be selectable when creating events.

The Gold Subscription allows access to RSVP Pro, this is the event registration component. IF you use JomSocial or CommunityBuilder you can pre-fill the information in the fields when users load the event to register.

Many thanks
Tony

p.s. Assigning the coach to the event would be done using the managed people addon which would allow you to link to the coach's profile page, show lists of events run by this particular coach etc.

@Tony,
In this particular implementation the actual attendees will not interact with the site at all; it is more of a "clients from a list that are assigned by staff members" type of deal. If you think about people with speech impediments who are assigned to life coaches by the staff you will not be far off the mark. There is a preexisting client component from which the clients list must be pulled.

Using Jevents for this is somewhat along the order of sending a Simba to shoot a chipmunk, but my customer saw the software and promptly took the decision out of my hands. Still, it will do almost all I need right out of the box so it is all good.

If you are amenable I may speak to you about making the customization. If it will be cost effective and timely then it would certainly be a much better use of my time.

@Geraint,
Thank you for the tip and I will be looking at that addon this morning.

Dan

EDIT: I should add this will be a front-facing site. All management, administration and user interaction will be through the Joomla front end. Only the SuperUser (me) will have access to the back end of the site for development and update purposes.

Well, I have purchased a Silver membership as recommended.

Once my head stops spinning from all of the options available to me I will dive in but I do have one more quick question:

I already find the "custom fields" add on handles links to external tables:
    <field name="YOURFIELDNAME" type="jevcfdblist" default="-1" label="Select Sensor Value" required="0" description="Select List tool tip" allowoverride="1"
tablename="joomla0402.calefjgs" valuefield="sensor" labelfield="Sensor Value"
filter="1" multifilter="0" access="1" requiredmessage="The sensor value is required" readaccess="1"/>

is it capable of handling a concatenated list of database values? e.g.,
valuefield="id" labelfield="last_name first_name middle_initial"

Not tried it but you could try
CONCAT(last_name, ', ', first_name, ' ', middle_initial)
