Hello,

after transfering a 2.5.28 installation to a fresh 3.4.3 installation no events and categories are present (backend and frontend). On both installations version 3.2.19 is installed so I just copied the old tables to the new installation.

Here the support information from version 2.5.28:

PHP Version : 5.4.41-0+deb7u1
MySQL Version : 5.5.43-0+deb7u1
*** CONFIG NOT SAVED***
Fix jQuery? : Yes
Load JEvents Bootstrap CSS? : Yes
Load JEvents Bootstrap JS? : Yes
Max Input Vars ? : 1000
Club code set? : No
Joomla : 2.5.28
component_com_jevents : 3.2.19
component_com_jce : 2.5.2
module_mod_jevents_cal : 3.2.19
module_mod_jevents_custom : 3.2.19
module_mod_jevents_filter : 3.2.19
module_mod_jevents_latest : 3.2.19
module_mod_jevents_legend : 3.2.19
module_mod_jevents_switchview : 3.2.19
plugin_content_jevents : 3.2.19
plugin_finder_jevents : 3.2.19 (not enabled)
plugin_search_eventsearch : 3.2.19

and here from 3.4.3 installation:

PHP Version : 5.4.41-0+deb7u1
MySQL Version : 5.5.43-0+deb7u1
Fix jQuery? : Yes
Load JEvents Bootstrap CSS? : Yes

plugin_content_jevents : 3.2.19
plugin_finder_jevents : 3.2.19
plugin_search_eventsearch : 3.2.19

The tables on the new installation has the same content as on the old one. If I create a category on the new installation with the same name as on the old installation then all events of this category are present and displayed. In the backend also as in the frontend.

Strange: The ids of the categories are different (146 on the 2.5 installation and 405 on the 3.4 installation).

I also wondered why the table "jevents_categories" are empty on both installation?

There are no users defined in Jevents and the used transfer tool "SP Transfer 3.7.0" transfered the user correctly. As far as I can see (it is not my site) all other stuff transfered correctly.

I would recreate the categories if the were not so much (about 100). So what can I do to get this categories back and/or why does it not work?

Thanks,
Peter

Hello Peter,

The JEvents Categories table has not been used since Joomla! 1.5. We now use the Joomla! Category table. Can copying the tables will not work without copying the Joomla! Categories and assets tables.

If you haven't got any JEvents add ons like managed people, custom fields, locations or RSVP Pro. Then just do an iCal Export and the events and categories will be auto created. See:
https://www.jevents.net/news/item/simpl ... -new-video

Thanks
Tony

Ok, thank you so far for your answer. Export was no problem but shouldn't I delete something on the new installation bevor importing? The events are still there but not visible. Shall I delete my manually created category first? Or the old calendars?

Hello,

I would delete all the imported data. basically empty the JEvents Tables. and delete all com_jevents categories in the _categories table.

Thanks
Tony

Thanks, that worked, but the colors of the categories are gone <!-- s:-( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_sad.gif" alt=":-(" title="Sad" /><!-- s:-( -->

Is it hard work to write an export-/import function through the backend? This would help much users.

Ok, I fixed it now. SP Transfer does not transfer these categories automatically (seems to be a bug I reported) but I can transfer it manually by choosing the ids.

After this I imported the calender items to a new calendar and all is fine now. I have deleted the old default calendar without problems but the only one now is not marked as default. Where can I change this calendar to default and the type also back to "native"?

If this was a mistake to delete the default calendar, please let me know - I have a backup of the database.

Hi Fish,

You can only mark New created from scratch calendars as default and not from url etc.

IF you want to do that, delete all your events again. Create a new single calendar.

Go to: JEvents -> Configuration -> Import / Export -> Allow frontend importing.

Then in your front end, login and view a JEvents screen. At the bottom you will see an Admin Panel which allows importing the events via file into that calendar.

Thanks
Tony

Your component must get the information in the calendar view some where to know if a calender is the default calendar. I guess it is stored in the database - but where?

Ok, is it a problem using the component without a default calendar?

Hello,

Yes, you need a default calendar for it to default too otherwise you might get unexpected results.

Thanks
