Geraint,
Similar to our rutgers sites the other sites that I have JEVENTS on are having many issues with bots, because the bots can just 'generate' the random urls and they get to the site...

https://traditionsatwc.com/news-events/clubhouse-calendar/monthcalendar/2026/10/-
https://sfplnj.org/calendar/month.calendar/2026/09/19/-

Because of this url structure it seems that once the bots 'get a hold of it', then just continue generating these values and hitting the site which then overloads the site.

Do you have a recommendation to combat this issue?

Should I just adjust the menu items to be nofollow? Then maybe they would get 'hidden'?

Thanks,
Laura

See this article for suggestions

Most bots will be picking up these dates from links on the site. I guess we could throw a 404 error on dates outside the config restrictions as a first step in the router which would have minimal impact on performance. Do you think that would help?
