Hello,

I am very new to Joomla + Jevents. I am basically an electrical engineer and want to run my own group page. I have successfully integrated the JEvents calendar and it is working great.
My next task and so the question is;

I want to read each day morning the calendar and collect all day events and send it via email to my group.

For an example, Lets say I have a scheduled meeting at 10AM tomorrow. I want to read this event tomorrow morning at 8AM when all my colleagues will be at office and then send an automatic email to my group email address e.g. mygroup@mycompany.com .

I will write my script for reading the calendar every day at 8AM and send all day events to my group email address.
I will use python to write the script.

The question is;

How can I read the JEvent calendar ?

I thank you all in advance for your time and cooperation.

Hello,

Why not use the JEvents iCal Export Menu item? Generate an ICS, copy the URL and use this as a feed. You should be able to find a basic python iCal library/handler to process it?

Many thanks
Tony

Hi Tony,

Thanks for your reply.
I will look into it and will update you as well.

How about the event notifier feature of JEvents. In Event Editing tab, it has an option "Send notification emails for all events".
I am trying to give it a try but I dont know how will it send an email using the email address I have provided, when it doesnt know my email password and SMTP etc settings ?

Please see the attached photo;

Hi Tony,

I tried the Event Notifier via email feature of JEvents. Looks like this is not what I want. As I want to read my each day events early morning and then send email at 8AM to all my colleagues.

I dont understand how to configure that, also will it need to be export each day or it will be automatic feed via some URL ?
Please share how to configure it. I have attached the screen short of iCal Export Menu as well.

Thank you

Hello,

Create a new menu item and select JEvents iCal Export some here you can generate an iCal Export. Right click the button and click copy url. From that, you can then parse it with your python script and send an email?

Many thanks
Tony
