Hi

I have a client looking to add a calendar of events to their website for their users. We needs some back end and front end capabilities.

Front End
1. Each logged in user has their own calendar of events
2. Events can be categorized/tagged
3. An Event can be added in each of the following ways
a. The user clicking on the calendar and typing in their own event information
b. The user can add events from a list/other calendar events by dragging them onto the calendar
[/list:u]
4. Reminder emails can be sent about events on users calendar
5. Events can be shared so other users could see them.

Back End
1. Super users can have a calendar of events that all other users can see and drag to their calendar
2. Super users can create events that are added to all users calendars by default (like holidays)

I was wondering if these features would be available and which membership would we need to do them?

Thanks

Hi

I have a client looking to add a calendar of events to their website for their users. We needs some back end and front end capabilities.

Front End
1. Each logged in user has their own calendar of events

This would require a plugin which is available to silver members of the JEvents club to allow user specific events - then the creator can make the events private or public (their choice)

2. Events can be categorized/tagged

By default you can place events in one or more categories and there is also a silver member taggings addon available.

3. An Event can be added in each of the following ways
a. The user clicking on the calendar and typing in their own event information
b. The user can add events from a list/other calendar events by dragging them onto the calendar
[/list:u]

3a. Part of JEvents where you click the '+' symbol to add an event in a calendar cell (or via a link or menu item)
3b There is no drag and drop option for event creation

4. Reminder emails can be sent about events on users calendar

This requires our gold member invitations, reminders and attendance addon

5. Events can be shared so other users could see them.

The gold member invitations, reminders and attendance addon allows event creators to invite other users to attend and can make an event private to invitees only if they require.

Back End
1. Super users can have a calendar of events that all other users can see and drag to their calendar

No drag and drop - we do have a silver member option to place events 'in my planner' which would have this effect where a site user could mark an event as one they are interested in and it would then appear on a special menu item

2. Super users can create events that are added to all users calendars by default (like holidays)

These events would appear on the main public calendar but not on user specific event calendars. We MAY be able to develop an aggregation mechanism to allow us to do this but its not currently possible.

I was wondering if these features would be available and which membership would we need to do them?

Thanks

Tyler

Excellent - thanks for the information. So it looks like we would need the gold membership.

As to the drag and drop option - I wonder if anyone has tried doing this and maybe posted something in the gold membership area.

For the Holidays - isn't there maybe an existing option with the general calendars to include known holidays already? If that was the case then that would suffice.

Thanks again

Hello Tyler,

No one has done a drag and drop of events that I know off.

Holidays all vary based on your location, so we cannot account for them. However, you might find your local government has a holiday calendar which allows downloads iCals or look around the internet for a holiday iCal file which is relative to your country. Then you can simple import this to JEvents by creating a new Calendar from file or url.

Thanks
Tony
