I have 7 J-Event categories. I would like to create 7 correlated User Groups Such that I can set a different default category depending on the user being given access to said group. Is this functionality in the base system or one of the Gold options?

Hello,

This is in the base system.

You can:

1. Use Authorised User Mode in JEvents, and add each user manually and specifically set the permissions.

2. Use Joomla! ACL support within JEvents.

Thanks
Tony

Tony, I can see how that will limit the access to only that category. I am still not sure as how I can use that to set the default category. As long as you are sure, I guess that I can wait to resolve this.

Hello,

As you are restricting each user to their own category it is automatically selected and the others won't be shown.

Thanks
Tony

Do you have a write-up that I can read? I tried to follow your instructions and it still gives me all of the choices, though I have no doubt that the ACL will stop the users from saving. I would like to remove the option from the menu choices.

Hello,

You can see:

For an article on permissions.

Did you enabled Authorised User Mode in JEvents?

How are you giving the users rights? via the authorised user mode? or Joomla! ACL?

Thanks
Tony

I was trying to get employ the White List. Your instructions appears to suggest that I need to use the blacklist. Either way I have enough information to make it work.
