Hello,

I see that Jevents has k2 integration for Silver club members, but I would like to understand if it's possible to achieve what I want with JEvents and K2 extension.

Please take a look at t his link [url:qyx2e0kt]http://bit.ly/1nE4FRR[/url:qyx2e0kt]

On the right side you will see a standard K2 calendar. If you press on 6th of september, a list of 2 events will appear. This is the maximum functionality you can get out of k2 calendar module, but I need more.

Events must have a start date and end date and events date range must be displayed on calendar module.

For example, event starts at 6th of september and ends on 30th of september, so date range from 6th till 30th of september would be highlighted on calendar module. I could press any of these days and event would show on the left side.

I understand that event lists are generated from JEvents component, but is layout like this possible [url:qyx2e0kt]http://bit.ly/1nE4FRR[/url:qyx2e0kt]? It's important that each event has this information - start date, end date and location. Also image size is important. At the moment this data is coming from K2 extra fields. Is somthing like this possible in JEvents?

Also is it possible that, when clicking on event from JEvents event list, a k2 item opens instead of JEvents event detail view?

Hello Wonderland,

This is all possible with JEvents and a little customisation. You would need the Standard Image and Files plugin and also I would advise the CCK plugin so you can create links between K2 and JEvents.

You would need a Silver Membership.

Many thanks
Tony

After a more closer look it really seems doable, but I have some additional questions now.

1. I understand that Image and Files plugin will allow me to add image to event. Does that mean that image will also show in view like this [url:pdwqoh85]http://www.jeventsdemo.net/events-at-the-zoo/eventsbyday/2014/9/14/-[/url:pdwqoh85]?

2. What will I have to do in order to remove these elements (in order to have layout just like in links mentioned before) "By Year", "By month", "By Week" "Today", "Search", etc.?

3. How will K2 plugin work? Will there be additional field where I can specify k2 item? Will it then take me to k2 item when clicking on event in a view like this [url:pdwqoh85]http://www.jeventsdemo.net/events-at-the-zoo/eventsbyday/2014/9/14/-[/url:pdwqoh85]?

4.At the momet I'm a bit worried about "Location", "Start Date" and "End Date". As you can see in link provided in my previous post, this information is located on top of event image. I saw that there are many fields selectable in Edit Layout page, but I didn't see event image field, will in become available if I have Image and Files plugin?

Hello,

1. If you want it too then yes it sure can!

2. Simply tell them not to show straight away in the component and in JEvents menu items :-).

3. Yes you would, and you can configure it to show a link or auto redirect. This setting is global.

4. The image certainly will be selectable. The only issue would be the styling would need to be done with CSS to replicate that layout.

Thanks
Tony

One last thing,

Could you please post a screenshot of K2 integration (in backend)? I have a hard time imagining how will this function.

Thank you!

Hello,

It is just a button which you click to show a list of K2 items and then select the K2 Item.

I don't have it integrated at the moment to take a screenshot.

Many thanks

I was hoping it was something along those lines.

One last thing, what will happen is a situation like this.

I have created an event that lasts from september 1st till september 15th and I have attached k2 item that starts publishing on september 1st and end publishing on september 15th. What will happen to this event in 16th of september? Will it still be clickalble on JEvents calendar module? And if yes, then what will happen when I open event and get redirected to k2 item that is no longer published?

Hello,

An interesting scenario. For SEO purposes you shouldn't unpublish the articles you should place them in a trashed category or hidden from the website.

The reason for this is you start generating dead links which is bad SEO.

You can use the time limit plugin for JEvents to never show past events if you wish but again, this will create dead links.

Thanks
Tony

In this case I will use noindex function of Joomla, since problems like you described have happened. Some people have even found events that are no longer going on.
