Hi,

I'm helping out with the local addiction charity, and they are looking to build public information website with events management and email invitations.

I've been looking through the various extensions available for Joomla, however I have not been able to see the exact functionality were looking for listed, so I thought I would ask you for some information.

Our requirements are as follows.

1. Event organisation and listing of the event on the site.
2. The ability to upload our contact database.
3. The ability to send emails to contacts from the database inviting them to events.
4. The ability for an embedded link within the email, which the user can simply click to register their attendance at the event. The user should not have to register on the website.
5. The ability to track who’s registered and resend invitations to those who have not completed the registration.

I myself, do have PHP web development skills and have built a number of Joomla websites previously, however I don't have massive amounts of time to dedicate to this project, and I'm therefore looking for an extension which will meet the requirements as closely as possible and reduce the amount of development or tailoring the solution to meet the needs.

Any assistance and guidance will be much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

Dazz

Hello Dazz,

Welcome to JEvents! :-).

No problem I'll answer the best I can below:

1. Most certainly
2. Possibly, can you explain how / what this is to be used for
3. IF the users were imported to Joomla! as Joomla users, then yes certainly. Or you can create a manual input list of people to invite which is reusable.
4. We have recently added this so it should work as expected. Just invite the user and they can confirm.
5. Most certainly, this is handled in the event details too.

Many thanks
Tony

Hi,

Thank you for answering my questions so quickly.

I can get the contacts database in a CSV format, but if they need to be defined as users as Joomla users then I could write the import to the database myself.

To follow up with a few more questions….

1. Can I compose HTML emails within the component WYSIWYG or is it more of a HTML editing type activity to create emails, just trying to understand if I could get others to compose the emails?.
2. Which components are required so I can understand which subscription to purchase?

Thanks Dazz

Hello,

1. The invites are actually pretty static invitations done with Joomla! Language strings. So it's a default invite including some of the events information.

2. You would require the Gold Subscription for the RSVP Pro

Many thanks

Just to clarify - the email invitation to attend the event can be customised in a WYSIWYG editor during the event editing/creation process based on a template you create in the RSVP Pro settings.
