I have tried the free version og Jevent, and think about buying the silver. I created a recurring set of events and I edited the end time for just one of the repeats. I then afterwards edit the description of the original event and a new set of repetitions is created and my edited repeat is deleted. Is something wrong? I believe it should be possible to edit the original event as long as I dont edit the date and repeat settings. Is this a bug ?

Best regards Sixther

This is be design - but ONLY when the date/time fields of the 'parent' event are edited. This is because the exceptions (in the iCal specifications that we use) are referenced by the un-customised repeat date/time so when these change we need a new set of repeats. You should have a popup warning message telling you it is going to replace the repeats if this situation arises.

Thanks for your answer. But the problem is that I did not edit the date/time fields of the 'parent' event. A new set of repeats are created even though I did only edit the description field of the parent event. I think something must be wrong in the code somewhere. Can you du a test with the free version ? I hope this can be sorted out as JEvents seems very promising in all other ways.

Can you give us your support info (see point 2 in pink section above) and then describe step by step how to recreate the problem and tell us if you see the warning message about new repeats?

Hi again

I have partly solved the problem. I have found out that this was because I was using the RC version and it seems to work better if I use the stable version.
But when I use the stable version and I have edited something(for example the time field) in one of the repeated events and I then afterwards edit for example the description field of the parent event, then the repeated event, which I had previously changed, will not be updated with the new description text.
I have seen another event extension to Joomla which can do this. I think it would be great if Jevents also had this possibility, because JEvents seem better in many other aspects.
Could this be possible ?

Kind regards from Sixther

I have found the issue in the RC version and will release a fix in the next couple of days.

the reason we don't update the description of your repeat exceptions is exactly because it is an exception e.g. you have a weekly event and have a different speaker or programme for one of the repeats if you then make a change to the parent event you do not want to loose that information.

Yes, but if for example one or some of the repeated events only had their time changed and you then later on want to add some additional information to you description field or to one of the other fields, you then have to do it manually on all the repeated events which had their time changed.
It could be possible to make a system where the system checks, when you edit and save a parent event, which fields of the repeated events had be changed priviously, and then only update the fields which had not been changed, compared to the parent event.
I have seen that done in another joomla event extension. Could this be something you would consider ? It would make the system even more user-friendly.

Kind regards from Sixther
