Hi,

I do use J-Events for managing old boats booking for a maritime heritage association.

We have 8 boats and +50 authorised sailors.

Each sailor has an user account and should be able to see all the events of all the boats once logged on the site but can create events (booking) only on some of them.

What is the best way to setup calendars and categories for this usage? (Groups and access levels are not set yet on the website so anything is possible at this level too...)

Thanks for your help !

You have a couple of options -
1. you could set up user groups for each combination of sailor and grant each group the relevant permissions on category or
2. you could use Joomla authorised user mode and give each user the relevant permissions on each category.

Would that work?

Hi and thank you !

I decided to use a single calendar and categories for boats, managing rights for categories in groups and adding sailors in groups. Works fine : they see all the categories(boats) but can create events only in specific ones.

My issue now is: sailors of a group should be able to create+publish an event but not to edit nor delete it. How can I do that?

So far I tried to change the group permissions of "edit own event" to "refused" but did nothing, users still can edit and unpublish.

Thanks in advance.

Can you upload a screenshot of the permissions tab in the JEvents config

You have enabled 'user authorisation' - this means that each user's permissions are set personally in the list of authorised users view

OK, thank you.

In this case (using JEvents User Authorisation) is there a way to limit edition ? I don't see the option except on editing all events.

In the case it is not possible...
How can I manage boats (categories or calendars?) and rights in a way that :
-every registered user can see all events of all boats
-but only some of them (Joomla groups?) can also create (but not edit nor delete) events for a corresponding boat
-and only admins can create/edit/delete them ?

I tried several combinations but didn't managed to find a solution so far.

Thank you in advance,

Guillaume

You can set permissions within the Event categories

Thank you. I'll try but in this case, each time I add a category+group (a new boat), I must update all the existing categories to integrate the new group of users. Is there a way to make it refused by default to new groups and give access when creating the group+category relationship?

Thanks and regards,
