JEvents 3.6 - Exciting New Styling & Joomla 4 Support

 JEvents 3.6 brings you

  • A new backend and event editing theme and a new dashboard that gives you a summary of information about your events together with a series of graphs that give you a quick overview of the status of events on your site.
  • A new, more modern,  interface for event creation/editing that uses this new styling (configurable)
  • Joomla 4.0 support

Responsive Left Side Menu

The responsive side menu is the new way to access JEvents features and addons - the appearance of the labels in the menu can be controlled by

  • hovering your mouse or focussing on a touch device (default settings)
  • clicking your mouse or touch device

You can also disable the appearance of the label at all and just use the tooltips (if you forget what the icons represent )

Event Creation Fields Appear Dynamically

The event creation screen can appear overwhelming with a lot of information to fill in - in Jevents 3.6 there is a new way to create events where the event creator is guided through the event creation a few fields at a time - starting with the title and date elements.  Once these are filled in the calendar and category fields appear  and finally the description. location, custom fields, attendance options (if you have RSVP Pro installed) etc.

If you want to use this helpful feature then you can enable it on the event editing tab of the JEvents configuration.  You can also set a placeholder text in the title field to prompt the event creator to start typing in the title field. At present this feature is disabled by default but in the future is will be enabled by default for new site installations.

New Dashboard/Landing Page

People have been asking for a JEvents dashboard for a long time to give a summary of recently created events, upcoming events. information about event ticket sales/attendance (if you have RSVP Pro installed).  This is finally available in JEvents 3.6 and is the default landing page.  If you prefer to stick to the event listing page as the landing page for JEvents you can select this option on the first tab of the JEvents configuration.

Using the Old Editing Layouts/Styling

Don't worry you you prefer the old styling you can continue to use the old event editing layouts by selecting this in the JEvents configuration.

For the time being you can continue to use the old style event editing pages in Joomla 3.9 and 3.10 - select this option on the Event Editing Tab of the JEvents configuration.  Please note that the old style event editing will not work in Joomla 4.0
