Hi all,

Jevents reminded me that the 3.1-version isn't supported anymore and that v3.2 is the preferred version to be used.
Is there anything special I should know about the upgrade or can I just install the new version from the zip?

Couldn't find any information on this, only for when upgrading from 2.5 to 3.2 or later. 8-/

Dashboard of JEvents is not so clear ...

- Joomla version : 3.4.3
- JEvent version on my website is 3.1.47
- No automatic updating (menu extensions - updating)

I have to update by myself to new version ? <!-- s:?: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_question.gif" alt=":?:" title="Question" /><!-- s:?: -->

We do not push version change updates if there is possible Joomla! incompatibilities.

You just need to install latest JEvents version on top of your current version and you'll be up to date. But please only do that if you are in Joomla! 3.4.3

I should be safe then. Thanks!

Hello,

We will when we are ready to push it globally. But we are allowing a few months to try and get as much testing done with the massive amount of templates out their.

Many thanks
Tony

It certainly does, however, it is not jQuery based and the previous was MooTools. This means that on certain environments it could conflicts of scripts and fail. As people would just click the update button and not test their site afterwards it could add errors into their website which they don't know about. This is of great concern for us.

When we are ready, we will issue an announcement.

Many thanks
Tony

If you are not in a critic environment or if you are setting up a new site, we do recommend the 3.4 RC version as it helps us finding bugs and we provide fixes as quick as possible ;).

I spoketh too soon.

I just noticed that the categories are invisible with the new Jevents v3.2.
The categories are there, when I go to manage categories in the backend, they're just not visible in the frontend. See the attached screendump.

What do I do now?
I'd really need some pointers and hints now!

I was able to restore the module and component folders to my Joomla-site, and now it works again.
I'd really need some hints on what to check and/or modify when upgrading to JEvents 3.2 from 3.1.

Nope, not to my knowledge.

I can check though, where would I set that?

Hello,

Firstly it's showing you have 3.1 modules but 3.2 component? You should just install the 3.2 package and everything should work. But needs testing.

You would edit the menu item and see if any categories have been set. And also check if the JEvents Filter Module has been added to that page.

Thanks
Tony

Thanks for the feedback.

It shows both versions because I did a dirty restore.
I'm not that keen to reinstall 3.2 again, as I don't know what to do should the categories disappear again.

As for filters, I dont see anything anywhere related to this. JEvents Filter Module doesn't seem to be installed.

If I uninstall Jevents completely, and then do a reinstall with 3.2, will the events be retained?

When you install JEvents 3.2 it will install a full package including the filter module - but it won't create an instance. So create a new module and select that type.

Ok, so I added a new module. But I don't understand how this will help me make the invisible categories visible again in the full cal-view, if I install v3.2.

Is v3.1 available for download somewhere, just to have a proper fall-back solution.

JEvents 3.1 is no longer available since its not supported any more I'm afraid.

If you send me login details via PM I'll take a quick look for you to see if I can see what is going on with the categories.

Ok.

Thanks for the offer.
The Joomla-site is on our intranet with no external access to the world. Sorry.

Any other ideas are appreciated though! :)

Hey guys,

Did the conflict checker in configuration/event editing/Check for specific conflicting events before saving get disabled?

I can add conflicting events for the same resource now.

It might be easy to say I have a version mismatch, and that that's where my problem is I guess.

Cool, guys.
Installed the latest release candidate and the problems went away, both the empy categories thing as well as the conflict checking-problem.

You guys rock! <!-- s;-) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";-)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;-) -->
