This is weird. Have you tried logging in only in the backend before running the script?

Yes, but let me try one more time. I understand that all I do is login to the backend and then copy and paste this script(http://www.yourdomain.com/cleanInstall.php) into my address bar and then click enter and it should resolve my issue, but I get this instead: Must be logged in to backend of Joomla as a super root user to run this script

Any ideas?

If your Joomla 1.7 Joomla install in the same folder as the cleanInstall.php file? e.g. if your site is http://www.domain.com/joomla17/index.php then put the cleanInstall file in the joomla17 subfolder.

So I tried it again and it failed however I tried this: domain.com/cleanInstall.php (w/o the http://)and it worked. So now what is the next step to get a clean install of JEvents on Joomla 1.7?

I was able to install JEvents successfully. You can call this case closed. Thanks for the help.
