JEvents 1.5 (No longer actively supported)

search events in backend - collation issue

JEvents 2.0 was launched over 2 years ago and the latest stable version is version 2.2 which will run on Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 2.5. JEvents 1.5 is therefore no longer actively supported - you should upgrade to JEvents 2.2+ as soon as possible.

Database was created through Webhotel's management console (no direct right to create databases with own credentials).

I'll try that new version later tomorrow.

In DB tables are created as utf8_deneral, but still when searching charset is breaking.

All other components are working fine.

I know you've answered this in another thread but can you give me your mysql version number.

Also for each of these tables can you run

SHOW FULL COLUMNS FROM tablename;

And list the results. There must be some columns being created with latin swedish collation.

As a possible fix ou could also try changing "CHARACTER SET `utf8`" to "DEFAULT CHARACTER SET `utf8`" at line 333 in administrator/components/com_jevents/controllers/config.php. You'd then need to delete and recreate the tables.

This is all very strange since the Joomla connection should be setting these default values for us already.

OK, tested this in my QA environment (I have dev/testinq, QA (quality assurance) and prod environments), and everything worked fine.

Problem might be in WAMP's setup. It has MySQL 5.0.51b.

EDIT: Re-installed jevents to WAMP server, and still same problem. All tables are utf8_general, so it might be some problem that has been created during Joomla installation.

Actually I just noticed that you suggested editing config.php.

But it doesn't helped, still that "kevt" when searching with "kevät".

Problem is with WAMP, noticed following at it's config file:
"default-character-set=latin1"

So Joomla tables are created with that, and now DB is "interesting".For some reason this was the first component that shows error.
