JEvents 1.5 (No longer actively supported)

Attendance count question

JEvents 2.0 was launched over 2 years ago and the latest stable version is version 2.2 which will run on Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 2.5. JEvents 1.5 is therefore no longer actively supported - you should upgrade to JEvents 2.2+ as soon as possible.

I am part of a small not-for-profit organization.

At our events, our members can bring guests (who would not be on the invite list).

Is there a way for them to tell us when they say they will be attending, how many guests they are bringing?

And if so, is there a place where we could see the total number of people (including those new guests) that will be there?

And is there a way to limit the number of people that can respond as attending to an event?

Thanks,

Kyra

You have 4 options:
  • Gold members can use the 'Attendance, Inivitations and Reminders' addon - here your visitors can confirm they will attend and event and you can add a custom field to record the number of people. It is possible to set a capacity limit on the number of separate registrations (but not on the sum of the values of your custom field). Event creator/admin will see the list of registrations and the value of any custom fields.
  • Gold members can also use a more complex addon called AttendJEvents - this would allow you to use Paypal to collect fees but is far more complex to administer than the first option above.
  • Silver members can use the "Simple Event Registration" option - this is just a simple checkbox to say if the visitor is coming (no custom fields etc.) Event creator/admin will see the list of registrations.
  • You could use a forms component to write and embed your own form - I've never tried this but I believe some other users have done this.

This would be an important enhancement. I am using the JEvents RSVP module and registered users can confirm event attendance. But registered users may or may not include their spouse and additional guests. So I cannot use the attendance counter to limit registrations. Adding a special checkbox field that can subtract one user from the attendance count if checked, and a special numeric field, that accepts only integers, that subtracts it's value from the attendance count may be a way to solve this.

This is possible with RSVP Pro 1.3.46.

When you create a select box or radio boxes you have some extra questions at the bottom.

In this case the number of tickets field counts towards the capacity count and is 'additional' to the number of 'guests'. So if you select 1, 2 or 3 tickets you would get 1 core attendee + 0, 1, 2 extra attendees counting towards the capacity so there is no double counting

Is that what you were looking for?
