JEvents 1.5 (No longer actively supported)

Integrated mapping on the horizon?  Topic is solved

JEvents 2.0 was launched over 2 years ago and the latest stable version is version 2.2 which will run on Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 2.5. JEvents 1.5 is therefore no longer actively supported - you should upgrade to JEvents 2.2+ as soon as possible.

Ok! This looks nice.

About Maps

If you can make all (or sorted by category) pins on one sigle map view it would be perfect. That would make a nice entry to the “list” of Events. For example if you show events from a certain category in a list/table (week) view then there could be a map with those events pointed out with a pin. The pin should have the info box when clicked and there you can get more details about the event or directions…?
Will this be possible and implemented?

Joomla Google Maps Multipage Plug-in do retrieve database tables and fields showing pins like that?

Mabey a Google Maps Multipage plug-in compatible with that? There is a Communtiy Builder plugin shoing members on Google Maps? (Look at Map Navigator)

Thanks

Johan

You're suggesting displaying all the events displayed on a calender or list view in a map (I guess that makes determining which events to display easier). Would you suggest displaying the map instead of or as well as the main display?

I guess we'd also choose the center of the map and zoom level so that all the locations can be seen at once.

This is a fair amount of fiddly work so will not be done that quickly. If other users express an interest in this then it would go higher up the priority list.

Ok

just would like to se all events on one map. Zooming could be done by letting Google Control be on.

I would you suggest displaying the map as well as the main display, if possible?

Thanks

I'd give 1,000 votes for a mapping system if I could...it would be terrific! If there was a way to have the icons by category that would be great. And I'd love to apply multiple categories to one event. Thanks for the great program.

I was just playing with the Demo on the site, and added a location so the Google Map would display. Why is the map so small? The maps are a great idea, but at this point, they don't seem very useful. Yeah, it shows a map, but what good is it if I can't get directions to that location?

I have been using the Google Maps plugin by Mike Reumer (tech.reumer.net) for a while now on my sites, and I use it in my calender events all the time. This allows me much customization, and allows the user to specify the size of the map, and any additional items that they want displayed. For instance, normally I set my maps to display the directions bubble so that a user can type in their address and get the directions to the location.

Instead of re-creating the wheel, if you could just incorporate the Google Maps plugin, that would be awesome!!

Thanks,
Kris

The map can be made bigger simply by tweaking the CSS.

The maps in the addon are integrated into venue descriptions, address and contact defails, links to events at that location etc. so its not really re-inventing the wheel :)

This is now a configurable option in the latest version of the managed locations addon. See the plugin parameters.

The problem is line 214 of layout.css the height attribute.

Also the if of the search box is a problem. I will fix this in the next build of JEVLocations. In hte meantime change id="search" at line 109 of components/com_jev_locations/views/locations/tmpl/list.php to id="jevsearch"
