I'm considering upgrading okanaganbusinessevents.com currently a Joomla 2.5.14 site using Jevents v3.1.8 to Joomla 3.4 and the latest version of Jevents. July & August is the time to do it as event listings are reduced.
I'm concerned about the logistics of doing so.
1) If I upgrade the Joomla version to the site, do I risk having my currently posted events stop working?
2) If I upgrade Joomla and the site still works, assuming Jevents still does, if I upgrade jevents will it import all of my existing events and keep on working?
I have about a thousand or so events that have been posted. I use many of them to duplicate and make new events from. I also have about 50 or so that are repeating events.
An alternative would be to build a duplicate site from scratch with the upgrades in place. Is it possible to download the database from the old site and upload it to the new site?
Any thoughts on what the best approach would be for me?
