Hello,

I have a Joomla 2.5 website that I am upgrading to 3.9.2.

The Joomla 2.5 is using Jevents 2.1.4.

I have the latest version of Joomla 3.9.2 installed in a new directory.

How can I move over all the Jevents content from Joomla 2.5 to the new version?

Thanks, Chuck

PS I have SP Transfer installed on the new website.
Hi Tony,

I think it's easier to move the database files.

So the process is to move over the database files first and then install the lastest version of JEvents.

Can you explain the moving over the categories table exactly?

I notice in the database that the old categories is called jevents_categories and on the new version it's jevents_catmap

The only file that I see is different between old and new is jevents_repbyday in the old version but it's not in the new.
Does that matter?

Thanks, Chuck

Hello,

You could simply disable your non-core system plugins in Joomla! then update Joomla! 3.5 to 3.x via the Joomla! Updater (You may need to configure the updater to allow .x updates) and then simply upgrade the CMS then upgrade JEvents via the Joomla! Updater.

If you want it to be on another installation then this is a little more tricky. You will need to copy the categories table from Joomla! over exactly as it is on the live site. Then move all the JEvents tables over and install JEvents so it creates / moves any additional SQL Changes we have made since 2.1.

Many thanks
Tony

Hello,

I was able to resolve this.

I first created a copy of the Joomla 2.5 website. Then I updated it to Joomla 3.0. I was able to update JEvents with the auto updater.

So I went into the database using phpMyadmin. Exported all the jevents database files. Then imported them into the new database.

I then installed the latest version of Jevents and all the events were there!

Thanks!
