We are exploring our options regarding an event & room booking calendar system.
I believe JEvents Pro (?) will do a lot of what we want - but am not seeing one very important feature. I'm hoping someone could confirm for me whether or not this is possible.

Our meetings spaces are used for 2 things - staff conducted activities (ranging from 1 hour to full day events) and public conducted activities (we allow the public to book our meeting space when available for 1 hour or more (not to exceed all day).

Is there functionality which would allow the customers to request use of our meeting space - and then allow staff the option to approve that request? If so, is meeting space automatically 'reserved' or 'booked' if an event is already scheduled in the room (so as to not allow double booking)?

I hope this makes sense and appreciate the assistance!
(If need be I can provide links to our current system so you can see how we utilize our existing events & booking system)
It is possible using the locations manager to block 'overlapping' events to avoid double booking but its currently not possible to limit this usage to between 1 and 24 hours. This could be done by writing a custom plugin for JEvents (I could give you a cost estimate for this customisation).

The public (ideally logged in registered Joomla users for better control, audit and communication) could then create an event and request the use of the room but the event would be unpublished until its approved. NOTE that there is no way to block duplicate requests for the same room prior to approval so your editors/approvers will need to check this (I can explain how when you get to this stage).
