I have set not to show past events in yearly - category view but the past events is still visible there.

The setting 'Show All Repeat Events in List' works as expected. But the 'Show Past events' seems to have no effect.
In 'ext' theme, the past events are never shown regardless of the setting.
in 'iconic' theme, all past events are always shown regardless of the setting.

I found the reason: The setting to show or hide past items in the year view is overwritten in the menue item definition. So the basic definition has only effect, if a calender is shown that is not related (?) to a Joomla menue item.
Correct - sorry it is confusing. In general settings can be overridden in the menu item but should default to the value set globally.
