Hi

I'm looking for a way to unlink the thumbnail map shown in the Location embed plugin. This link opens a larger map window with a list of events at that location.

This is great, but it is very difficult not to accidentally activate by scrolling past it when using a mobile, and I want the map to just display as part of a page which the user will be reading.

If there is a way of doing this which also deactivates the link in the Events detail view as well, that is fine. I am quite happy with just displaying this location thumbnail map in both situations, without a link.

Thanks
If you go to: JEvents Locations -> Options -> Events Integration -> Show detail link in popup -> Yes

Then it won't take them away from the page and instead be a popup.

Many thanks
Tony

Hi
Thanks for that. However, a popup still obscures most of the mobile screen. I would prefer to turn off the linking behaviour completely.. I'm guessing from your answer that this is not available?
Thanks

Hi
In any case, I've just had a look and the popup doesn't work with the location embed plugin map, only with the detail view in JEvents. Not sure it would have helped me here in any case.

Thanks

Hi Simon, I'm not sure if we integrated the static maps option in the embedded plugin, but it's very likely. Can you please try enabling showing a static map for mobile devices in Locations configuration? That will show a static map which will not have that scrolling.

Hi
Thanks for that suggestion. I did just try it and I don't think it is enabled for the plugin. I haven't got it to work properly in the detail view in JEvents yet, but that is probably because I'm trying to find my way around the API console still, after some years I have to add! I think the Google consoles are probably the worst designed I've come across.

Anyway, back to the plugin. It isn't the scrolling that is the issue for me, but the link itself, from the map, to the detail view. I will get around it for the time being, but if you are going to include event details as a display option with the next version of this plugin, maybe it would make sense to be able to turn off the link ? After all, why do then need a detail view. It isn't ideal when used on a mobile anyway.

Just a suggestion.

Thanks

Maybe this document can help you: https://www.jevents.net/frequently-asked-questions/maps-not-appearing

We are getting lots of requests to customize the mobile view so I'm giving a rethink on how to tackle this for the next release. Probably we will add some options in the configuration specific for mobile.

Hi

Many thanks for your suggestions.

If you are looking at how to make JEvents more mobile friendly, it would be great to combine this with a new bootstrap style template. I use Community Builder which has really improved its look and feel since introducing this, on both a desktop and also mobile.

Thanks again
