Is it easly possible to upgrade from free to gold version? Can i use the component beyond expiration of my membership?

You can indeed. JEvents Core is the same for everyone, but with memberships you get modules, components and plugins to go with it to enhance your calendar.
You certainly can. You just stop getting access to updates and the club forums.
