Hi.

Have you got a page somewhere that lays out the instructions for upgrading from Joomla 2.5 with JEvents 3.1.47 to Joomla 3.5 and JEvents 3.4? If not, can you pardon the newbie question and tell me what it is?

Hello,

So the standard method of upgrading would be to upgrade Joomla! to 3.5 then 3.6 then install the latest version of JEvents.

Many thanks

I'm reading the Joomla instructions for this upgrade and they say the following:

Before and as you update, note if the extensions have both 2.5 & 3.x versions in the same package. If so, they will be fine to "one-click update." If not, and 2.5 and 3.x have different packages, you need to look at them case by case. They will normally fall into one of the following scenarios:
The extension has separate packages but upon upgrading to 3.x, they automatically detect this and still work. Make sure the developer confirms this.
The extension has separate packages that need to be uninstalled in 2.5 and then installed with the Joomla 3.x version once the site is migrated. An example of this might be a content plugin. It is very simple to uninstall it in 2.5 and then install it again in 3.x. https://docs.joomla.org/Joomla_2.5_to_3.x_Step_by_Step_Migration

My question, I suppose, is which sort of Extension is JEvents?

And what is the status of JEvents when I'm upgrading Joomla from 2.5 to 3.6? Is it disabled? Uninstalled? Enabled?

Sorry for asking the newbie question, but I've discovered that getting this wrong wastes a lot of time.

Hello,

JEvents is fine to leave enabled as you upgrade.

It's more the legacy plugins. So main thing to worry about is system plugins, disable non-core plugins and then upgrade. you can upgrade components later.

Many thanks
