Recurring event shows first occurence date in Latest Events

I have just installed JEvents 3.4 on a fresh install of Joomla 3.9 running under Xampp on Windows 10. I created a recurring event, and when I display the Latest Events Module, the start date of each event is the first occurrence of the event.
