Do you have Stripe payment gateway? It has become very popular recently. I found the Hika business payment integration. Does that mean JEvents adds the booking to Hika as an item in the cart? Would that allow me to combine events and shop?

That is correct - you can then use HikaShop to pay for your event registrations.
