Latest Events module does not show today's event events

Using JEvents 3.4.47 on Joomla 3.8.10.

I can't get Latest Events to show events for today. I've set it to measure time from now and to use display mode 2 (nearest).

Actually, none of the modes show today's events except 5 (most recently created) and 8 (most recently modified).

No. It's a single test event. No repetition or multi-day.

Seems like that was it. The server timezone was set to UTC. I set it to New York and all seems well. Thanks.
