Running Joomla 3.8.7 under php7, and when you click on the date in a calendar it comes up with an error, however the error is not there under php5.6.

I'm guessing this is a common error, but would really like to know when it is going to be fixed.

A lot of hosters are turning off php old versions, and some even won't let you run below php 7, so something needs to be done.

hi bpratt,
can you please provide more details on the error? We test all our releases on latest PHP version and only some PHP warnings appear on some of them (which we need to not fix for backwards compatibility)

Yep sure can.

When the website is running under php7.0 and I click on a date on the calendar that has something on that date, it comes up with this error. :-

Call to a member function toFormat() on null

Funny thing is it appeared to happen all the time, but now it doesn't happen as often.... weird. :)

Can you please provide your JEvents Support information and also enable maximum error reporting and debug in your Joomla page and let us know if that provides any further message?

Set Joomla in to debug mode, but there's no debug output on that page to post here. :(

Can you please set "Error Reporting" to "Development" and check again? It should raise any error message.

Okay, set it to "Development" and made no difference, i.e. displayed no further error when I click on a date on the calendar.

The only extra I get is _before_ I click on a date in the calendar and get the error I am concerned about, and this is it. :-

Deprecated: Methods with the same name as their class will not be constructors in a future version of PHP; DefaultModCalView has a deprecated constructor in /home/qmroa/public_html/main/templates/ja_events_ii/html/mod_jevents_cal/default/calendar.php on line 14

Which is probably an error you are already aware of.

Hi bpratt,
that is not an error but a information message. We will check into fixing it for next release. In the meanwhile you may set Error reporting to "None" in Joomla! conifguration and the message will dissappear.

Best!!

Actually the message is part of an override of yours... If you disable the override does the message go away?
