We are considering purchasing Jevents to record all of our untimetabled events.
What I need to know is if I can set a cron to delete all of the items in a category and then import them from our CMS. This will reduce the risk of double booked rooms.
Example (every hour)
Delete all items in category "timetabled"
Import a cvs or ical format file from the CMS system.
If this cannot be done within joomla would it be possible using sql to hit the database directly.
I want to know if it is possible, not how to do. I have extensive knowledge of php/sql and joomla but have not used the jevents module before.

Of course it would be possible but not adviseable.
If you are wanting it to record attendance but then delete it you're losing all your data.
Our registration sessions and linked to events, without the event there is not registration. So to delete them they are out of date.
We do offer iCal syncing where you can import events continuously with a cron, but this doesn't include any registration information, it's just for event importing.
