How to make monthly view the default?

I have a menu item that is a date range. When you view it, it default shows the list view.

I need it to display the month view. I have looked at all the tabs both in configuration and in the tabs with the menu item and can't seem to find where I can change that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
