I want to create a link on an external page to my JEVENTS, but using an XML feed.

How would I do this? What would the URL be? Do I create a specific type of menu item, then link to that?

thanks,
LAura
HI rytech123 as tonyp says it may be possible the external system would accept an iCal/ics feed (which is possible out of the box).

One reason we haven't done an XML export is that there is no clear standard/schema for the output required. It should be possible to do as a template override (See https://www.jevents.net/docs/jevents/item/using-range-list-for-print-layout-of-events for some pointers on doing this).

Hello Laura,

Can you explain a little more please? Are you wanting to create a JEvents XML link for your remote application to use?

Many thanks

Tony,
My client said the following:
"We use an external site for our Summer Reading Program. There is an option to link a feed of programs via an XML link. So, I would need an XML feed for Kids, Teens and Adults. "

Does this help? It is for a public library that has their events listed in JEVENTS, it seems they have an outside place that will accept a 'feed'...

thanks,

Hi Laura,

I think I follow. So they want a xml feed for events on their website.

At present it is not possible out of the box. geraint have you ever implemented this?

You could look at using the iCal Export menu, and creating a template override of the export generation file and generate an xml file instead since it has all the data you need, you just need to customise the file output.

Many thanks

Ok, got it, I will let them know. I don't think I want to build a template override for this to work.

I'm sure an XML option would be a powerful thing to be able to really 'share' jevents with other applications.
