Hi there,
We are moving our community website from WordPress (What were we thinking?) to Joomla. We want to incorporate a number of features and we're looking into extensions to help us do that. So we'd like to know:

Is it possible to make a calendar with JEvents that will show part of the information to the general public and some info only to members of the community? So, e.g.
public info: We're going to Amsterdam on August 1, 2015 to visit the Anne Frank House.
private info: contact John at 020-4284332 or <!-- e --><a href="mailto:me@mail.com]me@mail.com[/url]<!-- e --> and
also private: a 'shoutbox' that will allow members to respond:
Jane: "Any one who needs a lift, can contact Jane" or
Ben: "I'll bring the sandwiches" etc.

This is just one feature, but there are other specs that we need to incorporate. I'll come back to that later.

Cheers,

Thom
We have addons for JEvents that can accommodate the partially private information - e.g. the custom fields addon can declare some fields as only accessible to certain user groups.

Did you have a shoutbox component/plugin for Joomla in mind?

If you could flesh out some of other requirements I can advise on how they could be implemented.
