Help to display a single event on daily view

Hi,
I've installed a calendar, and each day will only have one event. So my joomla menu links to "list by day", but this obviously lists events as a list. I tried the single event, but would have to choose each event. What I'd like is for the menu to show todays events, but as there is only one, to expand and show the whole event. Is this possible?
Thanks in advance, the free extensions you provide are brilliant, and if my site takes off, I'll definitely upgrade my membership
