I got JEvents (version 3.4.46) with a new Joomla template Quickinstall that I bought. It came with Joomla 3.8.7.
After installing on my server everything was working fine until i updated Joomla to latest version (joomla version 3.8.10). Then when I try to email an Events calendar page I get the dialog box and fill in the information, but when hitting send button I get the 403 Link is missing error. First I thought that it was due to joomla configuration file or .htaccess , so I copied over those files from the previous version where email was working, but this did not change anything. So it seems to me that with the newest Joomla, it does not find the JEvents link to email. I also tried to update JEvents to latest version, but got same error. Any idea on how to fix.

Hello,

I suspect this is down to a filtering constraint within Joomla! Can you confirm the exact steps this happens with? Is it with the email event option?

Many thanks

Hello Tonyp. Thanks for your reply. To replicate the issue:
I selected a "View by Month" menu item type, and it shows a page like attached.

JEvents email.png

When I select email icon (see red arrow) I get a popup box where I fill in email address etc. When I then hit Send I get the Error 403 Link is missing. I can see from the popup window header that the link for mailto is there, but somehow it is not found by by joomla.

Hello AJ,

Have you setup recaptcha on your site yet?

Can you provide a link so I can have a look?

Many thanks

Tony, I found the problem, but not the solution yet. It is not JEvents but the Helix 3 template I am using. When I switched to another non-helix 3 template everything was working fine. I know that Helix 3 from Joomshaper have had other issues with the latest Joomla updates, like error when opening menu items from Joomla backend. They have resently pushed out updates that fixed those problems, and I think they should be informed about the issue with JEvents.

I found a temporary solution. I you have a Helix 3 template then:

Replace the attached (default.php) file in the following location /templates/yourtemplate/html/com_mailto/mailto/ and paste this css on templates/yourtemplate/css/custom.css (if custom.css file doesn't exist then create it in the mentioned location):

#mailto-window input[type="email"] {
height: auto !important;
}

- Thanks

Ahh no problem, I know Joomla! did some work on contact forms to reduce spam and it's likely the template overrides were not updated on your theme.

Thanks for the fix!
