So you as a site manager can set the currency per RSVP Pro template.

This is the price displayed then the price is passed to Hikashop and then it's up to hikashop how the price is paid wether it be a different currency or not. Asking as the original price/currency is paid.

My idea is more on how it is displayed. As an example an event manager in Japan would want to display the price to their local currency in Yen. (Even though as a site administrator I may set the default currency in US in the backend). So when the attendees check out I assume they could select however currency they want to pay as paypal will do the conversion. The key is the possibility of displaying the local currency. How about map location distance units. Would event manager in UK be able to select in Kilo Meters or they will have to be forced to display my default settings in Miles?

My thoughts is it is much simpler to display prices to the local area where the event is happening. The attendees do not have to bother to estimate or do the conversions as everything they purchase locally is to their local currency.

By the way forgot to mention. One of the key features I liked about HikaShop is they have unlocked the currency. In a Multi Vendor module where different vendors from different part of the world get to display to their preferred currency. This is the same concept I was thinking it could be handled.

So for that you can use providers to show the current exchange rate beside the sites default currency? I'm not 100% sure if hikashop have it, but something we could look at for RSVP Pro for Viability.

Re the map, you can use the Map Theme which shows the map with events, it's usually one or the other. carcam should be able to confirm if we can extend this or not to be based of the logged in user.

That will be great!! Even if the providers are able to display manually a rounded figure to their local currency like the ticket price could show "1000 Yen" and be able to hide the default US price $8.99. That way the conversion can be done at checkout time but the prices reflect to the attendees local currency. Maybe this could be possible implementing using a Custom Field to override the default currency price for "display purpose only" and allow to hide the default set currency price.

Can I clarify what you are looking for - would these vendors be selling the SAME event in their own currencies or is it that each event would have its own currency and be sold by a single vendor?

Each event will be owned by a single vendor and they set their own currency. (A single or specific event in Africa in a particular country will be setup and managed by a single vendor where the vendor will manage or display prices to their preferred (local) currency, likewise a completely different event in Japan managed by another vendor will manage their own event will display prices to their preferred (local) currency.) So this is a Multi-Vendor setup where each vendor will have the flexibility to post or display prices according to their preferred or local currency.

This is not possible at the moment but I think it's an interesting feature to add in the mid term. The problema I see is how you determine the user location. Are you using a profile plugin, a custom field for the user or you just want to use geolocation for this?

The Geolocation or profile could be used as a suggested currency but ultimately it will be up to the provider to manually select what currency they want to use or display and it will be up to the site admin which Currency to make available for the providers to use.

1. I did some research and Matukio supports for any provider to use currency to their preference and it's in their documentation. (The site admin has to add all approved currencies from the backend) However they don't have an interface to HikaShop payment gateway.

2. Below is the response from the HikaShop support team on their solution for currency handling in a Multi-Vendor system.

"Vendors can set prices for their products in different currencies. HikaShop will convert the price to the currency that the customer as selected (and what is available via Paypal Adaptive if you're using that plugin). So there is no "Lock" on currency."

and what about the "distance unit" for the map? How do you show distance in km or miles? Do you also want your users to choose their preferences when they get to the page? In any case you need a way to store users's preferences (or units settings). Do you have or want that?

We can look into this but it may take a couple of months till we finally include it in the component.

Hi, Thank you for taking your time on this subject. I'm wondering if there is a good probability in regards to the the requested change/update on the "Currency" will be made per your estimated couple of months. With much appreciation.

on the JEvents site we display estimated prices in Euros and USD as well as GBP using the european central bank's daily benchmark exchange rates. It may be possible to include this output option for prices in RSVP Pro IF you evets have FIXED prices. It wouldn't work if the prices depended on the options that the visitors chose.

All Events have fixed prices. The key is to allow the providers to post with their preferred or local currency @ a fixed price. As described previously the available currencies could be set by the site admin. There is really no need to display any estimated price conversion as the users will get the converted price at the time they check out within PayPal.

I am a little confused - I thought that your situation was that an event was priced in one currency (e.g. USD) and your visitor may be paying in another e.g. (Thai Bhat) and you wanted the visitor to get an idea of what the price would be in their currency before they start the registration/checkout process.

Sorry for the confusion I thought I explained multiple times with different examples. Below is my thoughts and process.

1. The site admin will define the currencies that will be available for use by the providers. The list of currencies will be based on what PayPal supports.

2. Each event will have one provider and one currency.

3. A provider will have the choice to post an event from any of the available currencies for a single event.
Example: a provider in Bangkok Thailand can post the event price as 1000 Thai Baht and that is all the users have to see displayed. Users do not need to see any conversion of any other currency as they only relate to their local currency.

4. When a users selects the event in item 3 and checks out it will be up to them to choose which currency they want to pay with. PayPal will give them the option to pay in USD, EU or their local currency if available.

5. My very first inquiry is that JEvents should allow usage and display of any currency to for a single event by a provider. Instead of forcing to use a Global one currency for all events.

So to give you one more example if you live in Japan and want to book an event in Tokyo there is no reason you should be displaying any other currency except in Yen. The local people don't need to know any conversions of currency either. PayPal will take care of the conversions during check out time.

Now I understand. We do offer the ability to set a different currency per event but this is set in the session template. This list can be constrained by the site administrator (but this would be via a small change in the RSVP Pro config files).

Will your event creators be using a preset booking template (i.e. list of custom fields etc.) or creating their own per event?

I prefer to deploy a preset Template that would cover the majority for ease of management and standardization. Then deal with the exceptions and eventually come up with few more alternate preset templates.

Is there a way I could test the different currency per event configuration? Not sure what you meant by "via small change in the RSVP Pro Config file".
