Some of my users get this 403 error:

403: Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /index.php/organiseren/2-maak-event-aan/icalevent.edit/0.html on this server.
pokeractivity.nl

first of all I was not using 'authorised users'

Now this is strange because I have been testing and this is the weird. At home everything works fine and I tested with different accounts. But my other users do get the 403 message and we do not know what the %&*& is causing it <!-- s:x --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_mad.gif" alt=":x" title="Mad" /><!-- s:x -->

So to recap: I have tested with multiple user accounts which are all registered and at my home it works. yet when my dad tried to make a location (not even the event) he got the 403 and he is also a registered user so why is that happening?

Guess what, it may be something other then Jevents.

I had a regular user account and made changes to the profile and when I wanted to save I also got a 403.

I also got a 403 (earlier) when I tried sending messages tthrough the contact form... sooo

Shit

Hehe it's no problem.

It sounds like maybe you have enabled system lockdown in RS Firewall.

Thanks

Well we installed a different joomla installation somewhere else and then we tried making a location from the frontend AND as a superuser and then we still got the 403 <!-- s:?: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_question.gif" alt=":?:" title="Question" /><!-- s:?: --> <!-- s:?: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_question.gif" alt=":?:" title="Question" /><!-- s:?: --> <!-- s:?: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_question.gif" alt=":?:" title="Question" /><!-- s:?: -->

I am starting to get very frustrated at this point to be honest

Hello,

If you could give us login details and how to replicate it we can happily help narrow this down for you.

Many thanks
Tony

As I said in my PM yesterday I have had no problems creating locations and events on your server. So we need to try to identify what is different between the situation when it can be done and it can't - i.e. we must isolate the difference that matters.
1. I used Firefox and Chrome
2. I was logged in as "Jevents"
3. I am based in the UK with a static IP address
4. I have not tried to post any potentially 'sensitive' content - i.e. my event had no 'adult content' or suspicious text (i.e. something security software might not like)

I must point out something important - it always takes 2 attempts to login to your site. The first form submission gives no errors and just takes you back to the home page but NOT logged in - the second time it works. Its possible there is some strange plugin on your site that logs you out unexpectedly??

1. Can you try either Firefox or Chrome to eliminate point 1
2. I can eliminate point 2 for you if you send me login details of a user who has had these problems.
3. Try a different ISP e.g. using WiFi in a cafe
4. Try creating a really basic event like the test ones I have created

I tried that and I have no problems in other places or in other browsers.

That thing when you log in, I have no idea what is causing that...I don't have that problem with any account. Also I allready made events with different accounts...works fine.

At my dads house...it does not matter what he tries he keeps getting this error <!-- s:!: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_exclaim.gif" alt=":!:" title="Exclamation" /><!-- s:!: -->

OK - at your father's house have you tried logging in as a different user and/or using a different web browser?

Is it possible that his IP address has been blacklisted on your site because of some historic activity on your site?

He tried in on different computers and browsers but then I think he also got the error when tryng to save joomla profile changes in the frontend. No he is not blacklisted.

Other people are also getting this error still... my dad did not get the error from a mobile network...so I am puzzled

Ok I am still frustrated because the problem still pops up... Not everybody gets the 403 error but just now somebody got the error. But whe I asked them to change something in their profile (joomla component) there was no problem... This person was on a PC and had the problem in multiple browsers...

Please go debug because there is a problem with your component... I am now thinking about switching to something else... I don't want that really.

If you login as him on your computer do you see the same problem? If you do can you send me his login details so I can see what is going on.

Your account is still there and you now have Manager level access so please see what it wrong.

Sorry to hear of your problems - I was away at a conference over the weekend so didn't get a chance to look yesterday. The problems you describe seem to suggest a problem with a security addon for Joomla or security settings on your server .

I wish you luck with your site.

p.s. If you want me to take another look them I'm VERY happy to do so but I will need to be able to recreate the problem which I have been unable to do so far
