Hello Geraint, Hello All,

A long time I have not been here. I need to renew my membership.

As in the title I wonder if there is a way to get a "places numbering" fetaure for JEvents and/or RSVP?
I mean after updating from JEvents 2.1.4 and RSVP 1.3.48 to newer versions for J1.5.

In advance thanks,
-Charles
Can you elaborate on what you mean by "places numbering"?

Hello Geraint,
Sorry, I could not get back earlier.

With "Places numbering", I was thinking about a similar case to the one of a stadium or cinema.
Each place (or seat) is numbered. The numbers are the same for each event's repeat.
Participants while purchasing their ticket, have to make a choice of the places they want or they are assigned to some places according to the availabilty.
The lack of places (seats) means completion of the sale of tickets for the event.
Thanks for your answer.
Best Regards,
-Charles

You can set a capacity on the event or on particular ticket types and when the capacity is gone then no more would be available to purchase.

Allowing the purchased to select a specific seat is a lot more complex though.

Yes, that's the way I'm using it. And it is working just fine.
Allowing the purchased to select a specific seat is a lot more complex though.

I was suspecting such a complexity.
So it is doable with some coding efforts.
That's ok, I'll come back to you when ready.

Many thanks and Regards,
-Charles

I'm working with a specific client on a theatre seat selection system with different price band for different seats. Even when I've done this implementing it on another site will be quite involved since you have to create the visual representation of the seats and map this to the specific tickets etc.

I see. That's almost the same concept.
It will be great to start from what you are doing if available in any form.

I know your customers can always depend on you. That's cool.

I'm just waiting for some details from my client before I start. So I still have some time.

Thank you for the info and see you soon,
-Charles

Today this got more interesting as the customer is fairly specific.
I found this system which models what they want well.
I have not thoroughly evaluated but on the surface this looks like the answer

I have created something similar for a user and may be able to make it more generally available - for this client we setup a graphical presentation of the seating plan that mimicked the layout of their theatre.

How many seats in your seating area?

Does the layout change from event to event?

Choose own seats... ? I suspect the customer will say yes. I would limit the customer to section choice.. Some of the other ticket sales systems allow for individual seat selection. So Yes.
Thanks
I imagine the arena would have to be mapped.,Section X Row Y Seat Z

Also - do you want a graphical representation of the seating area i.e. something that shows the aisles and seat offsets?

I have a sample grid
It's pretty standard with stage row section seat Aisles.
My thought on how to manage the variable layout woudl be to set up some tabes representing X and Y and allowing an administrator to black out those seats which do not exist , to deal with curved or strange shaped arenas.
Can I send you a seat map ? Email?

This is the sort of thing that I have implemented on another site - I think it would fit your needs,

The main thing I need to do is to generalise it (since there is too much hard coded layout etc. in this).

I sent you a word doc with the layouts they are much simpler than yours
I woudl write this as an array and pre blackout the ranges and label the elements with seat #'s.

I'm really interested in this functionality. Just returned form a very long meeting with head of school. this topic was hot.
Thanks
