Hi there,

Is there a way to link people profiles in the managed people plugin to artcle content? For example the author field?

I have a list of profiles I am uploading to managed people, and also have a list of articles I would like to upload which I would like to associate with the individual's unique profile reference if possible. In a similar way to having assigned categories for articles, I would like a field where articles can link to profiles set up in managed people.

Kind regards,

Gareth
It would be fairly straightforward for us to create a content plugin that would output a link to the manage people entry associated with the Joomla user that created an article. Is that what you want to do?

Would you also want to show a list of upcoming events the author has created too?

Sorry, by author I meant the metadata field rather than the Joomla user (an admin will manage all the backend data). So when creating an article, there is some way to link it to a profile that has been set up in managed people. Then when the user views the event speaker profile, a list of articles associated with that profile can also be viewed.

Its not possible at present but it is an interesting idea - we should be able to implement something like this in Joomla 3.7 by creating a new custom field type (Joomla 3.7 will support custom fields in articles). So your administrator would select a JEvents managed person when they create a Joomla article.

Thanks! I notice you can link events to K2 articles. I wondered if it might be possible to link pers_id to a custom field in K2 items potentially, what do you think? I don't have a huge amount of time for this project I'm doing now, but think I might give it a go if you think it might be a feasible solution.

the new custom fields feature in Joomla 3.7 is a lot easier to manipulate - I anticipate we will be adding support for this type of feature when Joomla 3.7 is released (in the next few weeks).
