I try to upgrade JEvents (from 3.6.79 to 3.6.80) and Joomla 5.1 rejects this update

Is last version compatible with last version of Joomla ? How to solve this problem ?
Same error on PHP 8.2, Joomla! 5.1 on Jevents (3.6.79 to 3.6.80) update: "Invalid extension update" message.

I got the same for the main Jevents component but the other modules updated OK.
However, on loading the front end got fatal error traced to the latest event module.

See screenshot for error

I have had to disable all latest events instances to get the front end to load.
Urgent fix needed

If I change the theme to default the site displays OK.
Changing to iconic or ruthin and the front end crashes.
Have not tried any other themes.

I'm sorry about this - one of the update XML files was updated to support version 5.1 but the base jevents xml file that it referred to was not. It will work now.

wallyhowe the club theme updates require the new version of JEvents Will be fixed by the new version when you update it now.

Update successful but database update is required as on v3.6.80 (see attachment)
Is that ok, normal ?
Thanks, Gil

If you haven't updated JEvents recently then you should perform the DB update. It changes the database collation of several table/columns to allow "modern" content like emojis to be stored in event descriptions etc.
